RE:                        Hockey Canada Learning Lab

The new Hockey Canada Learning Lab has officially been created. This platform will result in a transition away from Hockey University. Coaches participating in a Member Coaching Clinic must:

  • Register for the appropriate clinic, depending on their division.
  • Complete the course in the Hockey Canada Learning Lab and choose which Player Pathway(s) they must take.
  • Complete a quiz after the main, non-Player Pathway content, and an additional one after each Player Pathway module, which will trigger the qualification to the Hockey Canada Registry
  • The Coaches will be able to re-access their course to complete the other Player Pathway modules as needed.

Hockey Canada Learning Lab Features

  • Requiring a single sign-on with the Hockey Canada Registry
  • Having content delivered through multiple methods, including video and interactive portions
  • Removing overlapping content that was included in multiple modules
  • Introducing a land acknowledgment to begin each course
  • Updating content to reflect our commitment to advancing equity, diversity and inclusion in hockey

Throughout the consultation and planning process leading up to the launch, Hockey Canada content owners have reviewed all content to ensure it remains accurate, effective and engaging.

Hockey Canda C1 Overview

Hockey Canada Coach 1 program was designed to review the basic tools coaches need in leadership, communication, teaching skills and lesson planning. This is taught with special considerations of the youngest athletes in mind. Hockey Canada Coach 1 addresses the core knowledge every new coach must have as they begin their coaching career.

Hockey Canada C2 Overview

Hockey Canada Coach 2 program follows the competency-based education and training method of learning and is an excellent course for all new and recreational-level coaches. The Hockey Canada Coach 2 program introduces player development, effective communication and supporting athletes in the team, training, practice and game environments.
